Meet your local guides
Our country directors live and work in these communities. They plan your transport, lodging and days, and they're with you on the ground.
Director, Ghana Operations
Thelma lives in Dadome village, where we serve, and was born in Mepe, the village just across the river. A mother of two who loves helping children, she leads our work with the schools and families of the Volta Region and served alongside our changemakers in Ghana. She's also a government budget analyst and founder of the organic brand Bountiful Buds.
Meet the Volta
Director, Kenya Operations
Jamal is a local, born in Watamu, Kenya, right where we serve. He and his family are the reason we serve in Kenya, and no one offers better guidance on the ground. With more than a decade of service in his community, he works with local teachers, parents, headmasters and leaders on every project at Mijomboni Primary.

Testimonials from changemakers
"Nothing prepares you for the sort of transformation this experience gives you. As a mother, I went there to teach kids, but I ended up walking away with life-changing lessons from the kids."
"My eyes were opened. Seeing those kids happy despite having nothing really hit me hard. I came away a more grateful man."
